Books, Books and More Books

Posted on May 30, 2017 in: General News

It is hard to believe but it is almost time to start donating books for the next St.  Matthias Book Fair that is scheduled for January 12-14, 2018.  We will begin accepting book donations on the weekend of June 4-5, 2017.  However, this year we will have a different donation process that will be easier for everyone. Instead of carrying the books to the Narthex of the church simply pull your car up to the “Reinhold Electric” trailer that is in the corner of the parking lot.  Before and after each of the weekend Eucharists (beginning June 4-5)  there will be someone at the trailer to r...

Annual Catholic Appeal 2017

Posted on April 20, 2017 in: General News

Doubting Thomas The reading from the Acts of the Apostles affirms the call to living and supporting one another in a community of faith. Together, the apostles lived, worked and prayed together, with “exultation and sincerity of heart” (Acts 2:42-47). The Annual Catholic Appeal is a call to live this same community, sharing One Heart in Charity, in the spirit of the early apostles and Mary, who shared in their mission. Every day, thousands of people turn to the Archdiocese of St. Louis for help. In our schools and parishes, at home and at work, and in agencies and at work, and in agencies and apostolat...

Every year St. Matthias offers a pilgrimage to holy shrines throughout the world for the spiritual and intellectual development of parishioners and friends. The next pilgrimage will take place January 16-25, 2018. On the third day in the Holy Land a visit is made to Tel Beth She’an where a huge Roman city of the time of Jesus is being excavated. In the Old Testament (1 Samuel 31:10-12) Beth She’an is mentioned as the place where ...
