Corpus Christi: Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ  On the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, we give special honor to Jesus, truly present in the most Blessed Sacrament of the altar. As Catholics, we worship the presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, both during Mass and outside of Mass. We are encouraged to spend time in prayer before the Lord in the Eucharist. The symbols - wind, fire and tongues - are not arbitrary.  Each tells us something about God and his mysterious work in the world. Wind - The word is used elsewhere in Scripture to designate a person's "breath" or "spirit".  The Holy Spirit is said to have been "like wind" because the Spirit is the Church's breath.
