The Knights of Columbus Council 742

is a Catholic men’s organization open to men 18 years and older. The Knights are dedicated to Christian leadership, Fraternity, and charity. Every year, the Knights donate thousands of volunteer hours and millions of dollars to charitable causes. The meeting is the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in a room in the old school building marked for K of C.

DeSmet Council was founded in 1903. It is one of the oldest Councils in the state of Missouri. It is named after Pere DeSmet, who was a Jesuit Missionary to the Indians.

The Council works closely with the St Matthias Parish, providing funds for various projects, members being active participants in their parish.

In addition to raising money for the Church and charity, the members enjoy social functions such as Christmas parties, a trip to the Way of Lights, Bus Trips to Cardinal baseball and various local shrines. There are golfing, fishing and horseshoe Tournaments as well as summer picnics and barbecues. Each monthly meeting has a business section but there are always refreshments and time to socialize.
